About Mrs. Lancaster

I was born and raised in Morehead City, North Carolina.  I graduated from Louisburg College in May of 1997, University of North Carolina Wilmington in May of 2000, and I  completed my master’s degree from East Carolina University in Middle Grades English Education in May 2006. I am serving as the English Department Chair.

Teaching Philosophy

I believe all students can learn and should be given the tools necessary for success.  I use a variety of teaching strategies to accommodate the needs of individual students.  I collaborate with my team, grade level, and other colleagues to ensure that I am using the best possible techniques and strategies with my learners.  Learning must promote students to make real-world connections and see how the disciplines relate to one another.  The Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop provides total differentiation for all learners allowing them to be challenged at their level and grow to the next.  At any given time, students will be reading self-selected literature and writing self-selected topics incorporating the strategies and techniques taught in class.  In the words of Whitney Houston “I believe the children are the future.  Teach them well and let them lead the way.”

  9. Amber,
You are on the right track. UNCW is a fine institution, and they have an awesome soccer program. Louisburg College has a fantastic girl’s soccer program, and it is designed for the first two years of college. Several of my classmates from Louisburg College transferred to UNC, which as you know has a terrific soccer program.

  11. Jessica,
Doing well in school is definitely the first step. You should talk to Mrs. Becton about careers in Science. Read as much as you can, and challenge yourself with technical readings. Work especially hard in math and science. I hope this helps.
